Group Health & Safety Director
Cavan Woods is ISG’s group health and safety director. Cavan focuses on cultivating a collaborative and progressive culture to design, implement and develop health and safety strategies and to support corporate goals and business objectives.
Cavan has been with ISG for nine years, starting off in the UK fit out business before moving to the engineering services division in continental Europe, where he managed health and safety across Western Europe and the Nordics. He was appointed to the role of group health and safety director in 2017.
Cavan previously worked for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and has over 17 years of experience in the health and safety field. In this role, he covered a wide range of industries, including general manufacturing, fairgrounds and amusements, and construction.
Cavan has been responsible for a number of health and safety initiatives at ISG, and over the past nine years he has made sure that ISG’s health and safety performance has been recognised by industry safety bodies. Accolades include British Safety Council (BSC) Sword of Honour and International Safety Awards, and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) President’s Awards and numerous Gold Medals. Cavan’s objective is to make sure that ISG has a long-lasting and positive impact on the construction industry.
Outside ISG, Cavan has been a volunteer for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution for nine years, including five as part of the lifeboat crew. Recently, he’s moved into an operational support role, offering health and safety advice to the Institution.
