ISG has completed a £5.7m fit out of a new three-level modern fitness club in Westminster, London, for influential American luxury fitness company Equinox.
While this represents Equinox's second venture in the UK, adding to their other fitness location in Kensington, the Equinox portfolio of brands boasts 92 upscale, full-service clubs in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Dallas, Houston, and Washington, DC, as well as international locations in London, Toronto, and Vancouver. The company offers an integrated selection of Equinox-branded programs, services and products, including strength and cardio training, studio classes, personal training, spa services and products, apparel and food/juice bars.
The project involved a refurbishment and fit out of three levels of the existing St James’s Street building, with restoration of its original marble archways to preserve the history of the building.
The interior features two new spiral staircases in the luxury fitness centre, designs which were 3D modelled by ISG's winning work team during the tender process. The luxury club includes an assortment of high quality fitness studios including one dedicated to Pilates, a free-weights area, cardio areas and a spa, along with saunas, steam rooms, showers and changing rooms. The facility also includes a restoration area to recuperate after a work-out.
The project entailed a high degree of structural and M&E works, as well as a large amount of joinery.
As the facility was based in a tenanted Westminster building, the team designed a logistics plan and schedule of works to avoid disruption to the local community.
