Introduction

ISG has been appointed by Knight Property Group to deliver a 58,555sq ft redevelopment and one-storey extension at the iconic Edinburgh House building in Scotland’s capital city.

The existing office building will undergo a drastic makeover and once complete will be able to accommodate 400 staff, with open plan floor plates, car parking, bike storage facilities, lockers, showering and changing facilities.

4 North is expected to be complete by September 2018.

The project

The project is the finishing touch on the redevelopment of the eastern side of St Andrew Square, which saw the creation of Multrees Walk and a five-storey, 100,000 sq ft Harvey Nichols store in 2002.

New curtain walling, a new upper storey and entrance porches are designed to marry with those at Harvey Nichols and the nearby Royal Bank of Scotland, while retaining existing sandstone.

With fit out and build elements, work on the nine-storey building (including basement) will see ISG deliver a CAT A office fit out to the eight levels.

A one-storey extension will provide stunning views over Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth, with lift cores relocated to make better use of space.
