Students from The Institution of Structural Engineers Young Members Group (IStructE YMG) have visited two of ISG's largest construction sites in London: Project Mint at The O2, and Baldwin House on Lombard Street.
The tours were an opportunity for members to observe and understand the complex structural challenges on both projects and to talk to our professional teams on working on such iconic projects.
The students were given guided tours around both venues, which offered a unique chance to see behind the scenes on our live construction sites.
At The O2, ISG is completing the circle by transforming an undeveloped section of the venue into a designer outlet village.
The new retail provision will be divided into two zones, featuring a mix of retail and food and beverage units.
At Lombard Street, we are demolishing an existing eight-storey office building to deliver a highly sustainable commercial office development.
Both tours were fully booked weeks in advance.
Assistant project engineer, Zahra Ghaffari, said: "As a committee member and the site visit coordinator for IStructE YMG, I selected Project Mint and Lombard Street because both feature incredibly complex structural elements that represent excellent case studies of what is possible with modern techniques and tremendous innovation.
"The O2 is one of London's most iconic structures and it was great for the group to see behind the hoardings of such an amazing project."
