The team behind a recent school project in the North East of England have been back on site, helping memorial garden plans to blossom.
The Sienna Wilson Memorial Garden will stand in remembrance of a Wynyard Church of England Primary School pupil who suddenly passed away at the age of nine.
The site team handed over a £320 cheque and donated a cherry tree to the fund back in February after months of fundraising on the project. Steve assisted the school in the design and location of the memorial garden during the later construction stages of the project.
ISG was appointed in 2017 to deliver the £5.5 million new school building in Billingham, Stockton-on-Tees. Previously operating from a temporary site, Wynyard Church of England Primary School now provides 420 primary school places and a 39-place nursery.
The site team included: Steve Laughton, Anthony Reynolds, and Paul Sayers. The project was completed in 52 weeks, two weeks ahead on a contracted 54-week duration, with the team overcoming many challenges and receiving some great testimonials for their hard work.
The project received a gold award at the Considerate Constructors Awards 2019.
Steve Laughton, project manager for ISG’s UK Construction business, said: “We provided construction advice to the school and landscapers, ensuring the garden plans complement the new building and that underground services and ground conditions were considered.
We finished the project in January but knew that the memorial garden was important to the community and the school, so I supported them as the plans came to life. The garden completes the school and Sienna’s friends, family and teachers have placed a memorial bench at its heart for all to take time in remembering her.
“It looks fantastic - the school and parents are very pleased with the memorial garden and have thanked the whole site team for their contribution.”
