ISG’s £34 million redevelopment of Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) is taking shape, as work continues at the Twickenham campus.
ISG is creating a new five-storey, concrete framed teaching block, extending to circa 161,000 sq ft of space within the grounds of RuTC’s Twickenham campus, which will remain fully occupied throughout the works.
A tower crane was erected in July, with a 31m mast and 60m jib, as work progresses following the official ground-breaking ceremony in June – an event which celebrated the start of the first phase of construction work on the project.
The ISG team has now completed the floor slab, and is in the process of constructing the five-storey concrete frame, which is due to be finished in March 2019.
The new building will provide an exciting and innovative learning environment within the grounds of the current college site, with students, employers and the local community able to take advantage of top of the range facilities at the revamped RuTC campus.
New high-tech facilities are set to include a TV studios, theatre, 3D prototyping FabLab, art gallery, silver service chef’s academy complete with sprawling views of Twickenham, business incubation spaces, a spa and wellness centre, sports centre and digital golf studio.
The college, a project which was awarded via the Pagabo framework, will continue to operate in the original buildings while construction takes place and is due for completion in 2020.
The redevelopment of the 22-acre site is a partnership between RuTC, Haymarket Media Group, Harlequins, Clarendon School, Richmond Council and Achieving for Children.
