ISG has secured a project to fit out the Malaysia headquarters of Swiss-based insurer, Zurich Malaysia.

ISG has secured a project to fit out the Malaysia headquarters of Swiss-based insurer, Zurich Insurance, in Kuala Lumpur.

The insurance giant is one of the world's leading insurance groups, with presence in more than 210 countries and territories.

Located in Mercu 3, a Grade-A office tower within the mixed-use development, KL Eco City, ISG will transform 112,000 sq ft of office space to accommodate Zurich Malaysia’s workforce, which will relocate from its existing office into an agile, more efficient work environment.

The new workplace involves 1,100 workstations, 22 CEO-1 rooms, 48 meeting rooms, a state-of-the-art boardroom, 27 phone booths and will introduce new collaboration and flexi-touchdown areas on each floor.

The team in Malaysia will also be providing critical infrastructure to support the new server room, which requires an early handover.

Working in a live environment, ISG will take measures to ensure minimal disruption to the surrounding tenants.

These measures include completing noisy works out of office hours, preventing dust particles from migrating into tenant areas by installing blank offs on air returns, and using low VOC products to ensure that pollutants do not traverse into other office areas.

Another significant challenge impacting the duration of the project includes the installation and integration of a new 800 amp to support the UPS and server room, which requires approval submissions from relevant authorities.

With only a 12-week window to complete the scheme, ISG will be delivering the fit out concurrently across eight floors, with specialist teams deployed on each floor along with approximately 200 construction operatives active on site at the project’s zenith.

To allow for a seamless handover and a defect-free project, early inspection and snagging of numerous floors will be done on a sequential basis.

Steve Drury, operations director for ISG in Malaysia, commented: “This will be a revolutionary relocation for Zurich, which will see them move from a traditional work environment, into one that is inspiring, efficient and modern.”

“As specialists in office fit out, we will ensure that Zurich Malaysia will achieve their desired results by making their needs our priority, enriching their experiences from the outset of the project.

The project will be completed in October 2018 with more project updates to follow."
