ISG has been appointed to upgrade the London Academy of Excellence in Tottenham, London.
ISG’s Agility business, which specialises in smart and responsive solutions for fit-out projects under 50,000 sq ft, will convert 8,500 sq ft of space into 23 new classrooms ready for the new academic year in August 2018.
Once completed, the project will increase the overall capacity of the school, helping to create additional pupil places on top of the 120 that are currently filled.
The London Academy of Excellence caters for pupils between the ages of 16 and 19, and aims to ensure children from disadvantaged communities can attend top universities.
In partnership with the Education and Skills Funding Agency, ISG will boost interactive learning for pupils through the installation of upgraded power and data infrastructure to support new high-end audio-visual equipment.
Accommodation will be reconfigured with partitions, doors and glazed screens installed to form new classrooms, as well as bespoke floor and wall finishes to open-up existing classrooms and encourage collaborative learning.
Lee Phillips, managing director of ISG’s Agility business, said: “Providing technology-enabled learning environments for our young people is a critical component of modern teaching, and this scheme for the London Academy of Excellence reflects a growing trend to optimise existing facilities through smart upgrades.
“The nature of this work is ideally suited to our specific skillset, designing and implementing an agile delivery programme that works around our customer’s requirements.
“Here, the school remains open throughout the project’s duration and we intelligently sequence our programme to minimise our impact, whilst delivering an efficient solution that will future-proof the school for many years to come.”
