The British Council for Offices (BCO) has named ISG’s Hugh James’ headquarters at Two Central Square the best corporate workplace in South England and South Wales.
The prominent new building sits adjacent to the BBC headquarters building and is the second of ISG’s trio of projects in Central Square, Cardiff, which have created a vibrant and welcoming gateway to the city.
Working with Hugh James, developer Rightacres, architects Foster and Partners, structural engineers ARUP and M&E consultants McCann and Partners, ISG delivered a building that works seamlessly for and the top 100 UK law firm.
Hugh James’ new office space was occupies 6 floors and benefits from a separate lift system, bi-folding meeting rooms, open-plan office spaces, a commercial kitchen, dedicated seventh floor client area, plus an impressive roof bar terrace with panoramic city views.
Sustainability and collaborative working were core drivers for the project which achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating.
The central staircase is a key visual feature and all floors are designed for open plan working and include designated quiet areas, space for confidential client calls and internal meeting areas.
Jon James, regional director for ISG’s UK Construction West business summarises: “We’re really pleased that this project and our team have been recognised for such a prestigious award, and more than that, we’re delighted that our end user client loved their new space enough to put it forward for this accolade.
"We agree that this superb space really sets the standard for offices in the area, leading the way for headquarters outside of London.”
Two Central Square will now compete against the other regional winners at the national BCO award in London in October.
