Education holds the key to digital transformation, says ISG’s BIM lead

Education and demonstrating the value of digital construction techniques holds the key to digital transformation in the industry, says ISG’s head of Building Information Modelling (BIM), Mark Norton.

Mark recently took part in a Construction Manager industry roundtable discussion on digital adoption, further highlighting ISG’s industry-leading profile within this important industry debate.

Mark insists that education is crucial in unlocking the true value of digital construction, and communicating the benefits to clients, suppliers and the wider industry.

“We have done a few teaching sessions [with clients], they were disinterested until they saw the results,” he says.

“Once the client restructured, it took two weeks off their programme, so they now want everything 4D sequenced.

“It comes down to education and demonstration – if you demonstrate the value, people get it quickly.”
