In an exclusive with Construction News, Daniel Kemp sits down with ISG’s head of visualisation, Simon Spink, to find out about our in-house developed 3D visualisation app.
The app uses 3D modelling software to generate its environments, meaning the visuals have a video game-like quality to them. In addition to helping ISG win work, the app can be used for site inductions, giving new starters an idea of the space they’re about to enter before they step onto site, as well as highlighting any potential areas of danger.
Kemp comments that although 3D visualisation has been around for some time, ISG “has taken things a step further than most”. He adds: “The main selling point of ISG’s app is its combination of high-quality 3D visualisation with interactivity – something the aforementioned Autodesk Live was trying to do earlier this year, although ISG’s renders appear to be of a higher quality”.
On the 3D app, Spink says it’s a “bit of a game-changer for us”, and next steps see ISG integrating the app further with the project programme. “We’re looking at different models, but want to incorporate this into a 4D app – which we think will be much better than anything that’s on the market”.
