Health and safety

Within ISG Jackson, health and safety receives a high level of management attention. We aim to improve our health and safety record by a long-term strategy which is produced as part of the business plan each year. We are also committed to safeguarding the health and safety of our employees, the public, our customers and all others who may be affected by our activities.

To ensure we operate safely within the company we have a Health and Safety Management System that is integrated with our Quality and Environment systems. This in turn ensures our Health and Safety System is registered to OHSAS 18001. This system has been developed over many years, taking regard for our statutory obligations and by learning from our own experiences.

Health and safety is actively managed at all levels within the company and a strong team-based approach is promoted. Managers have the support of the professional health and safety team, who are able to provide advice, assistance, training and audits with regards to all aspects of health and safety.

In 2000 and 2001 ISG Jackson achieved bronze RoSPA Awards in Occupational Safety; in 2002 and 2003 silvers. Since 2004 Gold Awards have been achieved every year, culminating in five Gold Awards being received in 2007.
